Taking applications for the position of Dean of the SFMC Cadet Academy

With the resignation of MGENRebecca Self,  TRACOM wishes to announce that we are now taking applications for the position of Dean of the SFMC Cadet Academy.

This role is of particular importance to the SFMC as the incumbent will be dealing with our younger members - the Marines of the future - and as such, a special type of person is required. The successful applicant will need to show some experience and aptitude in working with younger persons as the need to ensure our Marine Cadets have the best experience they can from their membership is extremely important. In that vein, it is our intention that the SFMCCA is developed further and we would hope that the new Dean will be able to extend the programs that MGEN Self has initiated by adding more value, excitement and fun for our Cadets.
For anyone who feels they have the commitment, skill, energy, time and enthusiasm to offer TRACOM in this role, then they should read through the criteria listed below and apply through my office.

Applications for this position will close on Friday 20th August.
All TRACOM staff members must have completed PD-10, PD-20 and OTS and hopefully have shown some strong interest in other SFMCA coursework.  Upon assuming the job, the Dean(Director) must be willing to follow the TRACOM reporting policies as well as the policies for answering/grading exams.
The successful applicant will possess good inter-personal skills, have EXCELLENT communication habits and be capable of completing work by an assigned deadline without direct supervision. Regular email access is a must as is a keen interest in the marine aspect of the Star Trek universe. Membership in the SFMC would be a plus, but is not a equirement.Applications should be addressed to COTRACOM at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . providing a brief personal and SFI resume and a reasonable explanation as to why they should be considered for the role - paying particular emphasis to their experience with young people and including their ideas and plans for the further development of the SFMC Cadet Academy.

In closing, I wish to offer up a note of thanks and appreciation to MGEN Self for her efforts with both the original creation of the SFMCCA and for the work she has done over the couple of years on behalf of our Marine Cadets.

- January 17th, 2010

Please Excuse the cross posting of this email.

It seems like a lifetime ago that I was appointment to be the 4th Brigade Officer in Charge and during my time a lot has happened to me and my family. The passing of my beloved Truman on Sept 29th of 2008 hit me hard and left a empty spot in my heart. My father was attacked in late October of last year, I've been in school for what seems like forever and of course trying to be a mom and getting my glass business up and going.

A lot has happened since I was appointed to be the 4th BDE OIC, I've seen so many people come and go, units started and disbanded for one reason or another. So many changes, some good, some not so good. I've been honored to work with the best people in fleet, I have made so many dear and wonderful friends who have been there for me through so much. I think if I tried to name each one of you here this email would be longer then what you would like it to be, lets just say you each know who you are and I want to thank each of you for being there for me. Its been a privilege working with each and everyone of you.

I've had to make a decision that is in the best interest of my family, the USS Centurion and the 1st MSG. It is with a heavy heart that I make this announcement.
As of January 19th 2010 I will be resigning as 4th Brigade Officer in Charge. Now don't worry I'll still be around but in a new position, I will be taking over the duties as the 1st MSG OIC until the DOIC is old enough to. ;)

I've been so honored to hold the position for so long and while it breaks my heart to resign I know I have to put my focus on the Centurion, the 1st MSG, my family and business.

Its been a honor serving as the 4th Brigade Officer in Charge.
